Moselle Cruise
Photos by
Olive Schneider
Ollie enjoying a glass of
vintage on board the M/S Marie Astride.
Ollie brought the pretty Air Bahama
uniform, lime, orange and cremecolored
with a flower patterned frock.
The straw hat with a lime ribbon
was topping this extraordinary
uniform! Can you imagine a bunch
of girls walking the tarmac of the
airport from the airplane to the gates,
what an attraction!

Ollie also brought the IAB manuals
and during the evening she made the
take-off announcement.

Luxembourg September 2008
The Fortieth Anniversary of Int’l Air Bahama
was celebrated with a Reunion in Luxembourg. The
Airline is now defunct, but the memories
live on. As always it was a splendid Reunion.
Every year we get a chance to reunite with
former co-workers who were not able to make
it to the previous one. Unfortunately, Major
Norman Ricketts was not able to attend,
but he sent us a History of Air Bahama
from which he helped created also a message
of kind words along with his lovely wife
Joyce.
Hello Air Bahama!
Cruising the Moselle River on
a pretty autumn day!
Roland, Ollie, Elisabeth, Eva,
Georgette, Paul, Betty, Nicole,
Lena, Daniele, Ferdy,
Anne & Gary.

There were tears of joy and laughter as we
greeted our former co-workers and also as we
read out loud the messages that were sent
by those who were unable to make the
journey. It was a few days of sweet
memories.
We revisited the Past by viewing old photos
downloaded on the Internet. Seeing ourselves
and former co-workers on screen was so
amazing.
On display were some IAB memorable Items:
An orange winter coat,
Smock
Mid-rift, skirt and vest / jacket
Straw hat
A carry-on beige hand luggage with IAB logo
IAB Coasters (drinks)
F/A Training Manual
F/A Announcement Manual
F/A In-Flight Manual
Georgette’s daughter Danielle was also present.
She modelled one of the Uniforms to remind us of
how we used to look.
We were thrilled as we imagined ourselves
down memory lane. We also honoured the Bahamas,
the former home base of IAB. On display were
Bahamian Flags and Bahamian Calypso music.
Missing was some Conch Salad, Grouper
Fingers and Johnny Cake.
I cannot close this Chapter without mentioning
Leo and Hotel Italia. Leo was delighted to have
us all in one place again. Hotel Italia gave
us a roof over our heads. His lovely 23 year
old daughter LEA was also present to greet
her father’s guests from the past. She was
beaming with hospitality.
Mario and Enrico were also on board.
The Boat Cruise down the Moselle River was
fantastic. We were joined by several other
groups.
The landscape overlooking the Region was quite
green and beautiful, the Vineyards were
impeccable seen from the hillside.
I would like to congratulate Betty , Georgette
and Elisabeth who worked so hard to make
this Reunion a success. (chapeau melon)
Hats off to all of them.
As our Reunion came to an end, we
realized that the Beat goes on!
Cheers!!
