OVERSEAS NATIONAL AIRWAYS
Fifi in our hearts
Fifi passed away on November 3, she only lived 2
weeks after she went into the hospital.
Fifi had a long flying career and started flying
as a stewardess with Overseas National Airways
in 1961 together with Nettie Miller and Britt
Carlsson Thorstvedt. At that time they lived in
Alameda by the Sea together with a lot of other
ONA crew. Those were wonderful times and many
stories are told by Nettie and Britt from that
era! There were several layoffs and restarts
of the company and in 1966 Fifi was # 3 on the
stewardess seniority list of ONA, flying senior
stewardess internationally.
Four stewardesses from ONA 1960!
INTERNATIONAL AIR BAHAMA
In the late sixties Fifi became chief stewardess
of International Air Bahama stationed in
Nassau Bahamas / Miami and Luxembourg.

Yvonne Shaw. Yvonne Shaw was chief
stewardess of Air Bahama after Loftleidir
acquired the company after 1970.

Now that Fifi has left us many of us are heart-
broken. Fifi was such a kind and loving person,
earnest and hard working.
ANAHEIM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
After leaving the airlines in 1973, Fifi set
out for a medical career and after a while
joined the Anaheim Memorial Hospital,
where she was emoployed at her demise.
She was active in the emergency ward of the
hospital.
FIFI WILL BE GREATLY MISSED
Fifi wanted to be cremated and her ashes sent
back to Minnesota. There will be a memorial
Catholic mass for her in Anaheim.
Fifi suffered from ovarian cancer and it had spread
to the liver. Her one remaining sister was with her
as she passed away, as were her many nieces and
nephews and she went to her house in Anaheim a
last time yesterday.
Dearest Fifi, a last farewell and Rest In Peace.

Air Bahama Condolences

A little dedication to Fifi
Fifi was Air Bahama for me. It was my time and I always
thought highly of her and had a lot of respect
for her. We had some great times together. She
was a very nice lady who always tried to make all
of our "special requests" possible, which was not
always easy with a bunch of young girls all wanting
Christmas or other holidays off at the same time
or having to handle the schedule according to the
boyfriends ...
I still remember the time when she encouraged me
to climb into the life raft during our ditching
training in Nassau. Had Fifi not been that decisive,
I would still be floating around scared to death of
the water. Fifi always tried to find a solution to
please all of us.
It is with great sadness that I say "Goodbye Fifi".
My condolences to her family.

Fifi was always very kind to me, she was a formidable
boss! May she rest in peace.

EVA THIBERG JACOBS, GOTHENBURG SWEDEN
What a shock to hear about Fifiīs demise. Fifi meant
a lot to me since she was my supervisor during training
to become a flight attendant with Air Bahama. This dates
back to 1970, but like with all good memories, it seems
only yesterday. There is an end to all, but why this
quick, why canīt life be a little longer, why canīt
a sweet person like Fifi stay some more. Life is oh so
short. Dear Fifi, you are in pain no more.
I will always keep the memory of you in my heart.

MARGIE TORRES, SOUTH FLORIDA
I was so sad to hear of Fifi's passing. My sincere condolences
to her family. Lucy and I spend some wonderful times with Fifi
when we lived in Miami, we had lots of good times and laughs.
She talked about her family very often and I hope and pray that
her family will find peace in knowing that they were loved.
I remember Fifi's sense of humor, her laugh, her willingness to
always make time available to listen when you needed to talk
to her. My Prayers will be for Fifi, may she rest in Peace.

TO FIFI FROM INTERNATIONAL AIR BAHAMA
Fifi in our hearts
IAN MORTEMORE, NASSAU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, BAHAMAS
It is with great sadness to learn of the death of yet
another member of the IAB family. Our condolences go out
to Fifi's family and friends. The few of us remaining at
NAS airport remember with fondness the days when Fifi would
come over from Miami and spend time at NAS airport working
with Gun Vidal, and getting the IAB F/A's ready for the 2030
departure to LUX.
Having journeyed on her last 'flight'
may Fifi now Rest in Peace. Fondest regards from
Ian / Chris (at Delta) and the rest of the NAS
airport staff

I was so sorry to hear about Fifi,
I had bought a card for her and
never realized she was so seriously
ill. I was so much anticipating to
reunite with her at the next Air
Bahama reunion in Luxembourg in
September 2008, I never forgot what
a great person she was with calmness
and patience dealing with us wild
girls at Air Bahama 1969!
Rest in Peace dear Fifi from Lena

I am very sorry to hear that Fifi passed away on Nov. 3rd.
The card with her address already on it is laying on my desk
and I wanted to send it after my return from San Francisco
where I flew to that day. For all of us she meant a lot.
For every one in a special way.
She started my career. She will always be in my mind,
this great sweet woman with her beautiful smile!

NICOLE KRETTELS BURNETT, UK AND LUXEMBOURG
I am so very saddened to hear of Fifiīs last flight taken
far too early. I shall always remember her kindness,
encouragement, warmth and understanding but above all her
wonderful great smile. She constantly was bombarded by
us girls to assist in this or that and dealt with all
our concerns with great aplomb!
She was truly a special person and shall not be forgotten
I trust, by anyone who had the good fortune to meet her.
My condolences to her family, friends and extended family
at the Medical Centre in Anaheim.

The Final Flight
Đ By Patty L. Hamon
I watched a shooting star
as it raced across the sky.
I was awestruck by it's beauty
in the darkness of the night.
Surrounding it like diamonds,
like tiny twinkling lights,
a million shining brothers
witnessing it's flight.
Sometimes in the evening
I will stand outside my door
and admire the peaceful heavens
and I'll glimpse a shooting star.
I'll wonder at it's glory
and the nature of all things,
at the silence of it's dying
and sweet sadness, it's death brings.
When the angels look down on us
as we go about our lives,
to them, a fleeting moment
like the shooting stars, we spy,
will our passing go unnoticed
into the darkest night?
Will we be a brilliant beacon,
like that star on it's last flight?
Lord, I want to shine that brightly
and like moths drawn to a flame,
bring others to Your mercy
and honor to Your name.
And when my days are finished
may You look upon my life
like a glorious shooting star
as I take my final flight.
