I see all the nice photos from Air
Bahama reunion in Dublin Ireland and
I´m thinking I will be going to
Ireland someday to explore my Irish
roots! My maternal grandmother was
a Malone. There is a small museum
for her in Hopetown, Abaco.

She was famous for being one of the first
white women to settle in the Bahamas when
the British subjects loyal to the king
left the Eastern Seaboard during the
American Revolutionary War.

Also, one of the songs, Lily Of The Garden, was inspired by Joyce Petrina bronze sculpture, Lily. FUN IN MEMPHIS!

JANUARY 23, 2006
Family photo! As you can see we have an extended family. From the left are Sammy Darville of Nassau, my niece Michael Petrina, our son (16). Next to him in the center is Sund Hung, who is like our third son. He is from Korea. In the back is Grace Haynes, Anthony's girlfriend and Anthony (19), our son is next to her. Jim, my husband of 21 years and me. Greetings from Joyce!

Joyce worked as a stewardess for Air Bahama
stationed in Nassau. She has been married for
21 years to Jim Petrina who originates from South
Carolina. They have two sons, Anthony (19) and
Michael (17). Anthony is a sophmore at the University
of Memphis and Michael is a sophmore at Houston High
School in Memphis. Jim and Joyce met in Luxembourg,
got married there and Anthony was born there! They have
been in the U S for 17 1/2 years.

The last eight years Joyce has been creating bronze sculptures and more recently, she paints in acrylics. One of the Joyce Varga Petrina´s bronzes was juried into the Inagural Exhibit at the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas.

The art museum is hosted in the Villa Doyle.

(Dr. Gale Saunders). The bronze sculpture was acquired by a private Bahamian collector. For the past three years she has been a volunteer at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis teaching art to the 7th - 12th graders.
